Nothing can beat my mom's Italian cooking, so I am pretty critical when it comes to tasting staples of Italy. I have enjoyed a lot of pizza over the years but nothing beats the beauty of homemade. Josh and I make pizza almost every week and after two years, we finally perfected the perfect slice. When you take your first bite, you can feel the crisp crust meeting a fluffy middle, gooey cheese and crunchy pepperoni with a kick.
What you will need:
Although it isn't necessary, a stone evenly cooks pizza and creates a crisp and fluffy crust. It look us quite some time to learn how to cook pizza with a stone. Therefore, I suggest following the steps below to ensure your pizza is fully cooked.
Instructions:
Let pizza dough rise for 6-12 hours
Put pizza stone in oven at 400 degrees for 30-60 minutes
Prepare dough by massaging and pulling it a part in a circular motion. Finish by kneading dough on a metal baking sheet covered with anti-stick cooking spray
Remove pizza stone from oven and prepare it with anti-stick cooking spray and a generous amount of flour
Place pizza dough on pizza stone
Evenly spread sauce on dough, followed by mozzarella, cheddar and pepperoni
Sprinkle pepper, onion powder and Italian seasoning on crust
Put pizza in oven at 350 degrees for 20-30 minutes
Remove pizza from oven and let cool for 15 minutes
Buon appetito!
Caring for your stone is important to maintain its longevity and authentic pizza taste. Before putting your stone away, make sure it's completely dry to prohibit any mold from forming and refrain from applying dish soap during clean up.
